Every night, Milo said goodnight to the moon.

"Goodnight, Moon," said Milo. And the moon shone round and bright, like a big silver biscuit on a dark blue plate. Pepper the cat purred on the windowsill. Prrrrr.

But one night, Milo looked out of the window and gasped.

"Pepper! Look! Someone has taken a BITE out of the moon!"

Pepper looked. Pepper blinked. Pepper did not know who it was.

The next night, the bite was bigger. The night after that, half the moon was gone!

"Somebody is nibbling it," whispered Milo. "A little bit every night. Like I do with biscuits when nobody's looking."
