Tenant questions

How do I get my tenancy deposit back?

Record the property's condition with dated photos when you move in, compare them when you move out, then ask in writing for your deposit back. If you can't agree, every government-approved deposit scheme has a free dispute service.

Can my landlord charge for fair wear and tear?

No. Fair wear and tear is the normal decline from everyday use, such as faded paint or a worn carpet. Landlords can only claim for damage beyond that, with evidence.

Is Move-In Shield free?

You can do your whole move-in check free and see a preview report. The final report with a verifiable receipt code is £4.99 one-off, with no subscription.
